Measuring for Model horse tack...

Here are some guidelines for measuring for tack - remember, the more accurate the measurement, the better the fit! In any case, if you'd rather me be able to "custom-fit" the tack to your model, you can always ship the model to me - but, in many ways that's inconvenient, so here are the measurements needed:

Measurement #1: From the corner of the model's mouth on one side, over the head (behind the ears) and to the other corner of the model's mouth. This gives me the overall idea of the model's head size. This measurement is important, but not as crucial as some, because this part will be adjustable.

Measurement #2: Back length - Draw an imaginary line that is even with the "wings" of the horse's hip as seen from above, and another line about midway up the horse's withers: measure the distance between these two lines, as shown above. This gives me an idea of about how long the tree should be.

Measurement #3: This is a double-measure, parts A and B;
PART A: measure from the middle of the withers to just between the model's legs under it's belly (this helps me to get the flap length right).
PART B: Now, measure from the middle of the withers at the widest point, down under the model's belly, and up the other side to meet with the end of your string at the withers. (helps me get the girth length right)

Measurement #4: This one is just for getting the overall size of the noseband right; measure right where the noseband should sit, within 1/8" of the point of the cheekbone.

Measurement #5: This measurement is MUCH more important. I have a white line, showing your previous measurement over the poll. The browband measurement should go from just behind one ear, over the forehead, and to just behind the opposite ear. This measurement will not be adjustable, so try your best to get it accurate!

Measurement #6: This is a simple measurement that just makes sure I get the reins long enough - simply measure from the corner of the model's mouth to the middle of the withers, just below the base of the mane.

So there you have it - how to measure for somewhat accurate tack if I can't custom-fit it!
