Today I felt ambitious (and bored, even after taking a soak in the rain with two stubborn mini-donkeys and a mini-mule that didn't want to be moved into their new pen), so I put together my Stablemates saddle:
SOOOO tiny! Any critiques would be welcome - this is my first SM saddle, though, so I see room for improvement!

Looks good! You did a really nice job with scale, which can be really difficult. And the detailing is nice too, like the panels on the back. I do have a few critiques though- one is that the grain of the leather is a bit big for the scale. I like to find thin leather by purchasing gloves or purses at a thrift store- that way I can really look for the smallest grain and the right color in person, and find exactly what I'm looking for at a cheap price. The other thing is that the seat could be more bent, it's a bit flat. Did you make a tree inside the saddle? That can really help shape the whole thing. Check out this super tutorial: http://fallen-leaves.net/forums/saddles-and-such/saddle-tutorial-t13858.html - it really helped me!
Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Yeah, the grain of the leather is too big, I noticed that when I first dyed the leather. The tree is made from a Arizona tea can (leftover from the County Fair last year), so I can probably bend the tree and get more shape.
Thanks so much, it really means alot that someone actually is willing to be honest without hurting my feelings!
